From Pune to D.C: A blouse, a saree, and a beautiful swap 💛

My daughter-in-law Vidya, a sustainability enthusiast based in Washington D.C., had the perfect sea-green & aquamarine silk saree for a special occasion — but no matching blouse.
As a longtime member of the Just Swap community, I reached out to admin Purnima, and a friend, who instantly thought of Gulshan Gidwani and her fabulous saree collection.
Gulshan generously shared five beautiful blouses from her collection, each lovingly kept. Out of these, I chose three which I happily carried with me — one turned out to be a perfect match!
What could have been a simple clothing dilemma transformed into a story of warmth, connection, and community.
Happy to be part of a community that makes sustainability feel so personal. ✨🌿

Every swap is more than an exchange — it’s a step toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supporting India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
By extending the life of everyday items, reducing waste, and building a culture of sharing, Just Swap contributes to:
- SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities & Communities: making urban living more inclusive, safe, and resource-efficient
- SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production: cutting down waste and encouraging reuse over disposal.
- SDG 13 – Climate Action: lowering greenhouse gas emissions by avoiding the production of new goods and reducing landfill waste.
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: fostering collaboration within communities for sustainable living.
In doing so, we directly support India’s NDC commitments on reducing emissions intensity of GDP, improving waste management, and moving towards a circular economy.
